Can’t say enough good things about the captain and first mate on the Jolly Roger II.  The weather, on the other hand, wasn’t quite as supportive! 

We were very lucky to be able to reschedule our trip to the following day after all the charter boats in Key West cancelled due to rough waters.  Our captain got us on the water the next day before the sun even came up, giving us every advantage possible for finding fish.  As you can see in the picture. We did find fish! 

It could have been better, we’re the circumstances better, but with the very experienced crew on the Jolly Roger II, we still got on enough fish to consider the excursion a success.  Not a “10” bit as close as I believe anyone on the water got that day.

We will definitely contact this Captain to take us out shin when we return to Key West.

We booked a full day trip as a graduation gift for our son, who wanted to go fishing for Mahi. The weather was beautiful! We are a family of 5 and the boat fit us all with tons of room to spare. The morning started slow, but Joe and Joel were determined to get us on the fish…and they did! We wound up with several Mahi and a Jack. Unfortunately, we lost a roughly 30-40lb Wahoo (much to everyone’s dismay). But the day was amazing and full of wonderful memories, and we couldn’t have asked for anything more. After our day was over, we even got to feed the “doc pets” (Tarpon and nurse sharks) the left over fish scraps.

As avid offshore enthusiasts, my wife and I are vigilant about watching the forecast. This day was forecasted to be like most in Key West, light winds, light seas, beautiful. The reality was severe thunderstorms and heavy rain for 2.5 hours of the trip. Captain Joe and Mate Joelle kept us comfortable and safe through the surprise storms and still manage to tie us into some very beautiful fish. These guys are top notch and who you want to be with when the weatherman is dead wrong. Thank you both for putting Tiffany on her first ever Mahi and Brittany on her first ever Wahoo. Life long memories for both!

Excellent communication from Captain Joe before the trip so we had everything we needed and were prepared. He even offered to let us call him as late as 9pm in case we had questions. Captain Joe and Mate Joel were kind, considerate, and competent. They took time with our 4 kids, taught them, and explained lots to them. Joel was always watching the lines and keeping them grass-free, and Joe was listening to two radios to get us to good spots. We caught lots of fish, and they were as enthusiastic as we were. The fish was perfectly filleted by Joel (no bones). It was a wonderful and easy experience from beginning to end. We wouldn’t hesitate to go with them again!

Absolutely the best fishing trip I have ever been on. Captain Joe and his mate Jamison were awesome and very knowledgeable. They knew exactly where to go to catch the fish. We specifically requested to catch Mahi and they did not disappoint. After Jamison filleted them we came with over 20 lbs of fillets. I would highly recommend them if want to deep sea fish 🐠 in Key West. Five star rating!! Thank you Cpt Joe and Jamison.
